Nita's is a most amazing bakery. They have a wide range of pastries in the traditions of Central & Eastern Europe as well as Western European classics I love their "Mascotte" (mousse de chocolat and orange peel wrapped in chocolate), the Joffre and the Baba au Rhum. I am also a big fan of their almond cookies and their "pates" with cheese, mushrooms or meat. They also make some amazing marzipan rolls. Unfortunately they do not have much space, so assume that it will be mostly for takeout

Went here with my boyfriend and son after we enjoyed lunch a few blocks down . We all got some pastry's that were chocolate covered I can't remember the names though but they were all great . We got the penguin pastry for our son he is 3 and it was a big hit . The bakery was clean and has a big kitchen . We were able to sit in the bakery they do have some counter seating in the bakery . The staff were so nice and helpful when selecting what I wanted to buy. We even took some pastry's to go

I had the Dobos Cake for my sisters 50th birthday ! It's was truly beautiful and very good! Will definitely get cakes from here again!

The best pastries in NYC by far. Top notch Central European baked good at reasonable prices. Great service, and they speak Romanian too. The place is always buzzing with customers, if it was in Manhattan it would be overrun.

I heard about this place from John Barr's YouTube video. His videos are always spot on with how good the food really is. The cheese paturi was very flakey and savory. The Amandina was one of the best deserts I had ever had. The cheese danish was a cross between sweet and savory and also flakey. The service was also really good.

A good while back, I went to this hole in the wall old school bakery prior to going for a dinner as I knew they'd be closed after planning on getting stuff to go. The woman inside was friendly. To go, I got a cherry square and a Richard Cake (or Tort Richard) which has chocolate ganache with walnut layers. I think both were around $4 or $4.50. I was interested in trying a Pateuri and I asked for a mushroom one and she gave it for free which was a nice touch. It had some seasoned mushrooms with a flaky pastry and made a nice little snack. The Cherry Square was alright. The cherry filling wasn't as good as Andre's but it was still pretty tasty. I liked the Richard more. It had a unique texture with plenty of almonds and a semi-sweet chocolate mix. Pretty tasty and worth it for the price. Upper 3

What a wonderul find!! Great place with a nice assortment of baked goods. The Pareuri are so delicious, flaky and a good portion. The almond horn was probably one of the best I have ever had. Everything was fresh.

As one of the only specialty Romanian bakeries in the borough, Nita's just happens to also be one of Sunnyside's longest standing businesses. A small shop nestled in the quieter part of Greenpoint Ave, their local reputation has certainly been among the very best and why? Their pastries and sweets are fantastic. Like any good bakery, it's really hard to nail down what they truly do well. I've enjoyed their cookies over the years and their mini cakes are the perfect dessert for a post-Greenpoint food crawl. One of their most popular selections is a Romanian treat called the savarina. It's like a rum cake meats cream puff and stupid delicious. I would recommend getting more than one since they run out practically daily. Folks often forget that they're also master caterers and their custom cakes are fabulous. They make dobos torte, or a Hungarian sponge cake that is filled with buttercream and drizzled with caramel. It is definitely underrated in the cake world and certainly a specialty I'm glad they make. I know of folks who have utilized their custom cakes for special occasions from weddings to birthdays and I was really impressed with their black forest cake. it was good and so rich that I think I could only eat it once in awhile. Last I checked, this place was still cash only. Things could be different now, but they're better with dollars than they are plastic. The ladies behind the counter might not look very approachable, but rest assured they'll be helpful in pointing out the best stuff of the day (which really might just be everything).
